The Architecture Student Expo

Our Curatorial Note

The built environment and the artistry in architecture have been a crucial part of human nature ever since the dawn of time. Mankind has erected buildings not just for domestic use and habitability, but also for sacred spaces like temples and tombs of heroic leaders. The exploitation of space to create an atmosphere has changed over the course of the years, but nonetheless, it is still fundamentally the result of man’s urge to actualize a form of definite dimension on the canvas of space. The Architectural Student Expo aims to bring forth to the public the flourishing agenda of architectural artistry realized by students. Architecture is for everyone. We shape our buildings, henceforth they shape us. It is crucial that the architect’s creation comes from a place of passion as his product is gifted to the public.

In this exhibition, one will be able to experience the works of the students of the faculty ranging from Diploma in Design Foundation Studies, to Bachelors of Science in Built Environment Studies, up to second-year Masters students, with works from the five major fields of study; architectural design, structural engineering, infrastructure and spatial planning, conservation studies, and urban design.

The works presented by students is also a glance into the ideals and beliefs of the average student, with their respective work showcasing and reflecting what the student believes the Maltese architectural scene ought to represent.
